These exciting classes are taught by award winning artist Dar Brooks who is back this season to inspire students with a smorgasbord of art techniques. Come loosen up and be spontaneous while learning simple ways of mastering art elements and mediums. Students will experience a new adventure each hour. Dar will demo and encourage students confidence to create art that is uniquely theirs.

This is a well loved non-threatening class where you will learn to use acrylics in exciting ways. We will discuss tube, fluid acrylics, gels, pastes, mediums, grounds, and gesso. Dar will demo how to use these unique supplies and teach you how to use acrylics with ease. No acrylic experience necessary! Just come and have fun.

Students will stretch their creativity in this exciting class that is intended for ages 12-adult. Dar will guide you in simple ways of mastering printing techniques. We will be using real leaves with watercolors, on watercolor paper. You will enjoy creative freedom while learning unique finishing techniques that will add positive impact to your finished nature prints, and a 12” X 16” painting. Please bring to class: Lunch and beverage, paper towels, pencil, notebook, scissors, ruler, glue stick, a brayer, small spray bottle.

This class is a great adventure for beginners and seasoned artists. Age’s 12-adult. Using watercolor, acrylics, mediums, water soluble crayons, unique papers with texturing techniques will add depth and impact to your work. Dar’s demos and spontaneous teaching style will stimulate your creativity without pressure. We will be doing simple landscapes and as time permits a close up floral painting. Class will include:
• Transforming art with mixed media
• Creating with design forms that work
• Imprinting with paste medium
• Using gesso and matte medium
• Adding line work, and light rice papers

Think you are not creative? Don’t worry. Just come and have fun as you loosen up creating fun fun art! This wonderful class is great for all abilities and ages 14-adult. We will be using watercolors and acrylics to create an abstracted piece. The goal of this class is to inspire each student to create finished pieces of art with their own unique style. You will discover the joy of multi-texturing tools, glazing, spattering, brayer techniques and resist methods. We will also work on the development of design approaches for powerful images. We will be working on Illustration board.

Using Collage to Tell a Story - 16 years old to adult

Class is 10am to 12 noon and cost $30.00 Starting with candid photos/snapshots as inspiration we will build a collage that tells a story-either fictional or autobiographical. Learn new techniques using layering, creative surfaces and personal imagery to breathe life into your artwork. Bring a copy of your favorite photo(s) and other personal "artifacts" (use laser printer, not inkjet as it will bleed). I will have some photos available too.
